One-day workshop of a portrait based on the Molavi opera film.
This one-day event was hosted at the “Third Line” Bookstore and Gallery in Kish Island. During this workshop, which took place in November 2017, Ali Ghaemi (a painter and sculptor) and I created an artistic piece inspired by Behrouz Gharibpour’s Rumi Opera. The opera was screened for the audience during the workshop.
I started crafting a sculpture using clay, creating an imaginative portrait of Rumi. In this portrait, Rumi’s hair, appearing tousled in the wind, was adorned with symbolic characters from the stories of Masnavi.
This artwork was displayed for three days at the Third Line Gallery, providing an opportunity for discussion and dialogue about it with the audience.

The sculpture “Moon-Sun” is located on the eastern coast of Kish Island, where at sunrise, this beautiful phenomenon seems to emerge from under the water and from behind the sculpture. This artistic work, commissioned by the Kish Free Zone Organization, was designed based on the local stories of the island and considering its geographical location, and took shape through 3D modeling. The construction process included foam modeling and molding in Tehran with my team, and then the piece was sent to Kish for the final stages of painting and lighting installation.
The story behind the Moon-Sun sculpture, which I created, tells of two pearl fishermen. One, each morning, pulls up the sun like a shining pearl from beneath the water to the sky, and the other, takes the moon back under the sea and hides it in a shell. This tale is inspired by the extraordinary underwater world, the deep love and connection of the island’s inhabitants with the Persian Gulf, and the memories of pearl fishermen who have been bringing a lapful of pearls to the shore with a single dive for years.
